Active Directory Lab Series — Enterprise Identity Infrastructure
20254 hands-on labs covering Active Directory Domain Services, DNS, Group Policy, and Multi-DC Replication — build a production-grade Windows identity infrastructure.
A practical, 4-lab series on deploying and managing Active Directory infrastructure. From initial Domain Controller setup through advanced Group Policy and multi-site replication, these labs cover the identity foundation that powers enterprise Windows environments.
Lab Progression
Lab 1 — Active Directory Domain Services & DNS Setup: Deploy your first Domain Controller, configure DNS zones, and establish the domain. Learn the fundamentals of AD DS, forest and domain concepts, and how DNS is integral to AD operation.
Lab 2 — Group Policy Fundamentals: Create and manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security settings, deploy software, and configure user environments. Understand GPO processing order, inheritance, and troubleshooting.
Lab 3 — Advanced Group Policy & Software Deployment: Advanced GPO techniques — WMI filtering, Group Policy Preferences, loopback processing, and deploying MSI packages. Build sophisticated policy configurations that scale across OUs.
Lab 4 — Multi-DC Architecture & Replication: Deploy a second Domain Controller, configure sites and subnets, manage replication topology, and implement site-aware services. Understand how AD ensures consistency across distributed deployments.
